  • ACOT8 (Acyl-CoA Thioesterase 8) is also known as Peroxisomal acyl-CoA thioesterase 1/2 (PTE-1/PTE-2), hACTE-III, hTE, and HIV-Nef-associated acyl-CoA thioesterase, reflecting its diverse functional roles.
  • Catalyzes the hydrolysis of medium- to long-chain fatty acyl-CoAs (C2-C20) into free fatty acids and coenzyme A, regulating intracellular acyl-CoA levels and peroxisomal lipid metabolism. Related references: PMID:15194431, PMID:9153233, PMID:9299485
