  • ABCG2, also known as breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP), is a member of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) sub-family G. It encodes a broad substrate specificity ATP-dependent transporter with multiple alternatively spliced isoforms.
  • ABCG2 functions as an efflux pump that actively extrudes a wide range of xenobiotics, physiological compounds, and dietary toxins, thereby conferring multidrug resistance by exporting chemotherapeutic agents such as mitoxantrone, methotrexate, and anthracyclines.
