  • ADAMTS13 (A disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs 13) is also known as von Willebrand factor-cleaving protease (vWF-CP). It is a secreted glycoprotein with multiple domains including a metalloprotease domain and thrombospondin type-1 repeats.
  • The primary function of ADAMTS13 is to cleave large von Willebrand factor (vWF) multimers in plasma into smaller, less thrombogenic forms, thereby regulating vWF-mediated platelet thrombus formation.
