Biological Background: Histone H3 Function and Localization

Histone H3 is a core component of the nucleosome, the fundamental repeating unit of chromatin. Together with histones H2A, H2B, and H4, it forms an octamer around which approximately 147 base pairs of DNA are wrapped, thereby compacting the genome and regulating access to DNA-templated processes.
